Coach Kenda Roth's Report:

The 2007 Varsity Football Cheerleaders were extremely busy all summer preparing for the upcoming season. Besides regular weekly practices since May, the team was also busy doing fundraising, as well as decorating the school and stadium in anticipation of another exciting football season.

In late June, the team represented the District 4 South All Stars Football squad and helped cheer them on to an exciting win in the District 4 All Star game sponsored by the South Williamsport Lions Club. Special thanks to the new Geisinger Sports Medicine clinic for their sponsorship of the team's game shirts.

The team also sponsored a very successful youth cheerleading camp in August with over 40 future cheerleaders in attendance. The camp is held in honor of Carissa Berkheiser, a former Southern Columbia football cheerleader who was tragically killed in a car accident several years ago. The program is always proud to donate part of the proceeds of their camp to Carissa's scholarship fund. A highlight of the camp was randomly choosing several campers to cheer with the Varsity team at the first home football game. This is always an exciting event for the young future Tiger cheerleaders to participate in.

In August, the entire team participated in a cheerleading camp sponsored by the National Cheerleading Association. Besides winning team honors, many individual team members were also honored for their outstanding ability in the areas of tumbling, jumping, spirit, motion technique and memory skills. Team members obtaining All-American status included seniors Cortlyn Appel, Stevie Britch, Lindsey Scherer, Ali Wondoloski and Katie Zakrzewski, as well as freshman Taylor Toczylousky. An application to join the 2008 National Cheerleader's Staff was also awarded to senior Katie Zakrzewski.

The team would like to thank the Boosters for their continued support and commitment to the program. Special thanks for the new additions that the Boosters have helped to provide for the 2007 season. These additions include raincoats, help with new warm-ups, as well as the stunning new 10x20ft team run-through and individual T-I-G-E-R-S letter flags that help to lead the team onto the field.
